Stylistic wooden African bird mask from the CHOKWE tribe of D.R. Congo. This ceremonial bird mask was used during initiation rituals and also serve at portraying tribal stories that are passed down from generation to generation.
Beautiful carved wooden mask, made with an eye for detail. The bird beak can move upside down. As a result, it looks like the mask can talk. There are tribal decorations on the forehead. Good condition with shiny aged patina.
