Great Kakunga helmet mask of the NKANU tribe, Africa, CONGO.
Large piece with an unmatched appearance!
The item is in good condition, with traces of tribal use. Some paint comes off at the bulbous part.
There is a nice white kaolin clay layer on the face with some Tukula red and blue pigment. This is a fine and rare mask of the Nkanu, a sub group of DRC’s Yaka People. Of bulbous form and brightly painted the mask is remarkable in presence.
In good condition with traces of wear and tear around the bulbous part.
