Majestic shoulder mask from the BAGA NIMBA people of Guinea. Shoulder masks like this one were used during joyful ceremonies such as weddings and harvest festivals. The wearer of the mask had a raffia costume and performed dances while surrounded by villagers.
This is a shoulder mask as a large pair of breasts, a typical extra enlarged head with semicircular ears, a pointed chin and nose.
Good condition with a beautiful shiny aged patina. The wooden mask is covered with copper nails and strips.
