Ancestor Figure – Wood, Nails, Feathers – Yombe – Congo

Powerful well carved wooden ancestor figure from the Yombe tribe of DR Congo. The 300,000 YOMBE people are artistically prolific.
This superb example of Kongo sculpture shows the emphasis given to the head and detailed body.
Good condition with traces of tribal use and a beautiful aged patina. The large figure has feathers, nails and iron adornments on top of it.
