This ceramic is an example of Mangbetu court art in which the human figure is used to adorn an everyday object.
The figure has a typical high fan-shaped hairstyle and its face is adorned with tattoos, the ideal of MANGBETU beauty. Contains traces of wear and tear. Around the neck the figure seemed to be restored in the past.

Provenance: former private collection from Belgium.
