Beautiful wooden ancestor figure of the Bamana tribe from Mali.
The Dyonyeni are associated with Southern Dyo and Kwore society.
These female images usually appear with large conical breasts and measure between 40 and 85 cm in height. They were used during ritual dances to celebrate the end of the initiation ceremonies.
Figures represented the Bamana idea of beauty. Good condition with clear traces of wear and tear.
