Stylistic wooden ancestor statue of the Bambara tribe from Mali.
The Dyonyeni are associated with the southern Dyo and Kwore society.
These female statues usually appear with large conical breasts and measure between 40 and 85 cm in height. They were used during ritual dances to celebrate the end of initiation ceremonies. Good condition with traces of wear and tear. Wonderful aged patina with multiple scarifications over the body.
