About this object

Wooden ancestor figure from the Ngbaka people of DR Congo. Typical large round shaped head.The artistic style of their statues and masks, is recognizable through their elongated features, a line of vertical scarification on the forehead. Please note the small wooden pegs which are place under the chin. Good condition with a beautiful shiny patina of age. Provenance: former private German collection.
