Ancestor Figure – Wood – Nepal

Great ancestor figure from Nepal. Wood, covered with red pigment, sitting with bended knees, prominent large head with rectangular deepened eye sockets and mouth opening, hole in the parting.
Ancestor figures were placed on family shrines. They serve as new abode for the soul of the deceased.
