Ancestor Figure – Wood – Punu – Gabon

Beautiful Punu ancestor figure from Gabon. It is thought they were used as prestige objects, during magical cermonies, or were kept alongside the ancestral bones in a reliquary box. There is a hole in the wood on the down left part of the figure. The head is covered with scarifications and white kaoliën (phembe). Fair condition with clear traces of wear and tear.
