Stylistic Tabwa figure from DR Congo. Tabwa ancestor figures were carved as prestige objects and their role was to assert the chief`s authority – a Hemba tradition. They measure between 20 and 70 cm in height and are carved in the shape of elongated figures and stand on a circular base, with slightly bent legs and have an elongated neck supporting a rounded head with linear scarification’s. The wooden ancestor figure is in good condition with a wonderful patina of age.
