This is a beautiful old supply/offerings box (Byeri), the bottom part is made out of bark. The upper part consists in a lid with two finely carved Fang figures. This Byeri was used for the storing and for the sacrifices made for the ancestors. It has a beautiful patina, with traces of tribal use.
For the FANG, Byeri is related to the worshipping of the ancestors and of the sanctuaries dedicated to them, in order to bring luck, wealth, and fertility.
