Storage Container – Wood – Mangbetu – DR Congo

Beautiful hand carved wooden storage container of the Mangbetu tribe of DR Congo
Unlike other known ethnic groups the Mangbetu did not use special containers as reliquaries for their ancestral bones. These boxes object of great prestige were reserved for the great notables. They were used to preserve precious objects or as the present one magic remedies or drugs used by the great diviners or healer.
