Description

Currency bars such as this were highly prized in Western Africa from 1600-1900. The style and make of this kind of bar was indigenous to most western African tribes, and was utilized not only as jewelry, but basically as portable wealth or currency. Heavy piece, total weight: 6 kg!

Provenance: former private collection from Belgium. Collected in the period 1953 – 1959 (More details provided to buyer).
