Appealing Ibeji twins with coat of the YORUBA tribe of Nigeria. One of the most famous Yoruba Ibeji woodcarvings is the figures that represent deceased twins. According to Yoruba faith, they affect the daily lives of family members so they were honoured with libations and prayers.
Warm expression, decorated with a coat made of buttons / beads. They have a beautiful patina of old age, good condition.

Provenance: former private collection from Belgium.
