The Salampasu are established in the South of the Democratic Republic of Congo and also in Angola.
Masks compose the essential of Salampasu art.
They appear on the occasion of initiations, as well as different reunions of social classes.
With a bulging forehead and apparent teeth, it could easily inflict fear and command respect.

Provenance: former private collection from Belgium.
