The JONGA are a small, ethnic group in the center of the Congo. They live south of the MBOLE. So far only very few of their masks and sculptures are known. This mask made of light wood shows the typical style characteristics of the JONGA: The extremely slanted, slit eyes are characteristic of the JONGA style. Nose and eyebrows are prominently and sublime worked, as well as dark brown colored, like the circumferential, outer, broad edge of the face mask.
Good ondition with traces of wear and tear.
