Mask – Wood – Ngeende, Kuba – Congo

Wonderfull wooden Ngeende mask from DR Congo.

This type of long and narrow mask is also used in the Ngongo where it is also named nyibita, and in the Kete; Tshimuanga Ndombu. The cavities of the eyes, deeply sunken, cause the cheekbones to protrud from the dry cheekbones and a powerful nose, evoking the masks of justice Ngil of the Fang, runs through the middle part of the face.

The Ngeende are established in the eastern region of the Kuba realm. According to oral tradition, they would descend from Woot and adopted the Kuba religion to which they incorporated Kete beliefs. Good condition with traces of tribal use.
