Powerful Tabwa mask from DR Congo. Apart from the well known bushcow masks, the Tabwa have also, though in a small number, produced other types of masks, among which is the present example. Striking features here are the large orbits, the triangular nose and and the simian open mouth. The eyes are typically made from cauri shells.
Good condition with traces of tribal use.
