Mouse oracles were used by diviners. A mouse was placed in the upper part with some rice. When the mouse moved, the rice was displaced. Then the diviner made predicitions by “reading” the position of the rice, moved by the mouse.
Good condition with beautiful dark oily aged patina.
Provenance: former private collection from Belgium. Collected in the period 1953 – 1959 (More details provided to buyer).
