Power Figure – Wood, Metal, Beads – Songye – Congo

Great Songye power / maternity figure from DR Congo. Stylistic wooden ancestor figure of the SONGYE tribe from D.R. Congo. Great eye for detail with detailed face covered with metal nails.
It served to protect the family against diseases, accidents, bad spirits and bewitchment. Large pieces  where even used to protect whole villages.
Good condition with a beautiful aged patina. The wood on the base is slightly damaged due to aging.
