The artistic production of the people living in the Grassland of Cameroon is closely associated with royal and societal ceremonies. Large figures, thrones and prestige paraphernalia are used by the king to assert his power. In Cameroon seats, in particular, were the prerogative of royalty. Only a ruler could sit on a throne. Gorgeous royal beaded throne from the BAMILEKE tribe of the Grassland of Cameroon. The throne is made out of wood and fully decorated with colorful white, red and blue beads. Good condition with traces of tribal use. Please note the detailed carving of the wood on the backside. Weight: +/- 40 kg Provenance: former private collection from Belgium.
