The Zulu are a Bantu people of Africa, partially sedentary, mainly established in South Africa.

Known for their remarkable army (the Impi), in the 19th century, the Zulu fought the Boer settlers and the British army with perseverance and tactics, which repeatedly caught the Europeans off guard (Zulu victory at the Battle of Isandhlwana, during the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879). Most of the them became cultivators.

This shield is a demonstration of strength of a Zulu warrior.
