Powerfull wooden Urhobo shrine figure from Nigeria. Large figure, total length: 110 cm!
The Urhubo people settled north of the Niger river delta and live from fishing and farming.
They carve EDJO figures and ancestor statues – the former is respresented as mythic warrior holding weapons or magical containers. These ancestor figures are usually kept together in communal house where they preside over meetings.

This powerful figure is considered the age, in good condition with traces of wear and tear.
