Unique bronze Lobi stool from Burkina Faso.
Lobi people produce seats supported by three or four feet, and occasionally decorate them with a human or animal figure.
Stools become associated with the spirit of their owner and after the owner’s death are placed in a shrine as a means of communication between generations. Good condition with traces of tribal use.
Provenance: former private collection from the Netherlands.
