Tribal Spoon – Wood – Lega – DR Congo

Stylistic wooden tribal spoon from the Lega tribe of DR Congo. The social value of the object explains the remarkable artistic quality. The spoons are known by many names, which roughly translates to “spoon associated with feasts.” The handle of the spoon is always decorated and often is related to the humans like this example with the detailed carved head. The spoon is in good condition with a wonderful aged patina.
