Beautiful detailed Mumuye spoon from Nigeria. The social value of the object explains the remarkable artistic quality. The spoons are known by many names, which roughly translates to “spoon associated with feasts.” The handle of the spoon is always decorated and often is related to the humans like this example with the detailed carved head. Contains traces of wear and tear. The left ear of the head is restored in the past.
