Triple face mask – Lengola – Wood – Congo

Beautiful triple faces mask of the Lengola tribe of DR Congo.
Masks like these were used in instruction and initiation ceremonies into the five progressive levels of Bwami, the association that Lega men rise through with lifelong learning and deeds.

Material: wood with blue and white pigments (kaoliën).
Good condition with nice aged patina.

Provenance: former private collection from the Netherland.
