This is a beautiful old supply/offerings box (Byeri), from the Fang people of Gabon. There is a fang figure carved from wood in the middle of the container. It has a beautiful patina, with clear traces of tribal use.
For the FANG, Byeri is related to the worshipping of the ancestors and of the sanctuaries dedicated to them, in order to bring luck, wealth, and fertility.
