Ancestor figure – Wood – Dogon – Mali

Authentic wooden male ancestor figure from the DOGON tribe, Mali. Good condition with beautiful aged patina and clear traces of wear and tear.
Dogon figures are predominantly associated with the ancestor cult. They are carved either for personal or family use or, if they commemorate the foundation of a community, are worshiped by the village. The figure can`t stand on it`s own, this can easily solved with a coin or piece of cardboard.
