A beautiful beaded elephant from the Bamileke tribe of Cameroon.
Beaded figures are among the better-known sculptures of the Grassland area. They come from the Bamileke area, but in particular from the Bamun sultanate. Carves with a wooden core and covered by a raffia cloth, the figure itself is hidden by a layer of multi-coloured beads.
Good condition with a beautiful colored patina.
