Beautiful round shaped Ambete mask from Gabon. The Mbete are a large cluster of peoples living today in southeastern Gabon and southwestern Congo. The Mbete claiming a Kota origin live in the middle part of the Republic of Congo near the frontier of Gabon and in eastern Gabon. Nice aged patina covered with kaolin and traces of wear and tear.
Provenance: former private collection from the Netherlands. Comes with custom made stand.
