Old tribal Tetela mask from DR Congo. Their very diverse sculptures are marked by influence of groups living in contact with them: the Mongo, Nkutschu, Binji and Mputu, Kuba and Songye tribe.
Great mask with 4 eye sockets, a powerful pointed nose, gaping geometric mouth, with 3 stylistic horns, form here the embodiment of a tutelary spirit. Powerfull vertical lines with white ochre highlights. Songye`s influence is notable. Interesting mask in good condition with traces of tribal use.
