Exceptional pig mask from the CHOKWE tribe of Angola. The mask is made of wood and decorated with rope. It represents a domesticated pig that performs many tricks. These masks are used during magical dance rituals in which the dancer is on all fours and moves the mask forwards.
The mask is in a good condition with traces of tribal use. The mask has a beautifull full hairstyle made from rope and cloth.
Provenance: former private collection from Germany.
