Authentic Songye power figure from DR Congo. Stylistic wooden ancestor figure of the SONGYE tribe from D.R. Congo. Great eye for detail with detailed face covered with metal strips.
It served to protect the family against diseases, accidents, bad spirits and bewitchment. Large pieces where even used to protect whole villages.
Good condition with a beautiful aged patina. Large and heavy figure, length 96 cm, weight 13 kg!
